Religious scholars and top tribal shaykhs called for the Yemeni President to answer the demands of the people. Meanwhile resignations from the government in protest of the suppression of the demonstrators continued.
A statement issued from "all the scholars and shaykhs of Yemen" mentioned that President 'Ali 'Abdallah Salih should "answer the demands of the people."
The statement demanded that "military and security units refrain from executing any orders, no matter who they're issued from, to kill and suppress."
The scholars directed a "salute to the youth of change," urging them to "continue in this course." They strongly condemned "the mass killing which was committed after the Friday prayers," expressing that "what was done is a black spot, according to tribal customs." [...]
